About Us
A Little History
Rob Wuczynski
I first became interested in music in 3rd grade when I was
asked about a Cheap Trick lyric and did not know the
answer. Ever since then, I have purchased a lot of music
and spent countless hours studying different musical
genres. It wasn't until 1984 when I went to my first live
concert that I understood what music could do to people.
Sure it was AC/DC, but they took the crowd to places I
never imagined a crowd of 28,000 could go.
Seven years later I got my first radio job and went on to
produce, edit and host syndicated radio shows for the next
13 years. I was fortunate to work in an industry that fueled
my love for music and entertaining.
So, it was a natural progression to take my experience and
passion for music, and start this business with "Hoss".
Hopefully we will move you a little like AC/DC moved me.
Most importantly though, I know we will try our hardest to
make your event fun and memorable.

I love good music, parties and having fun. Starting this DJ
business with Rob was one of the easiest decisions I have
ever made. I only wish we had started sooner.
I have been into music ever since Rob used to bring his
KISS records to 4th grade and we would listen to them
during recess. My Mom wouldn't let me listen to KISS in the
house, so those few minutes each day were exciting. Over
the years my love of music continued to grow and I even
played guitar and sang in a band for few years.
I was at a wedding in 2007 and the DJ was absolutely
horrible. Seriously, he was really awful. I thought "I could
do a better job than this guy."
About that time Rob got married in Florida and for their
reception back in Chicago we set up my PA system, played
some great music and ran a projector to show a DVD of
his wedding. It went so well I said, "Dude we should start
doing this professionally. We are good at it, we care, we
know our music, and we could have fun doing it."
Hence Checkerboard Entertainment was born in 2007.
